Bulletin Board/Epals

We are beginning to use the Wells Bulletin Board to expand our understanding of the Internet and Computer Technology. The Bulletin Board will be used to write journals on-line and have others review and comment on them. In addition, the Bulletin Board can be used to post questions (e.g. homework) and exchange ideas with fellow classmates. We continue our use of Information Computer Technology (ICT) with Epals (email exchange program). Currently we are corresponding with classrooms around the world. Epals is an excellent way to learn about other countries and cultures and build reading, writing, keyboarding and interpersonal skills in a safe and monitored learning environment. www.epals.com

Current Events

Students are encouraged to read the newspaper and present their articles to the class in their own words. This is an excellent way to develop public speaking abilities, reading comprehension skills and to promote an understanding of world events.

Values Education

Every week students read about a topic (e.g. making friends, dangers of drugs) in values education that can assist them in making better choices or being a more responsible citizen. After reading and discussing the topic they must break into groups and retell the important aspects of the information through a drama or play. By doing so, they are not only relearning the information through a different means (e.g. role plays) but learning to work together and share ideas to create a meaningful and entertaining presentation for all to see.
